The school summer holidays may be over but there’s still plenty to look forward to in South Devon this month. Here’s our top 5 things to do in the English Riviera this September!
Themed Breaks - September
Beverley Holidays plays host to three fantastic themed breaks this month. Celebrate the Last Night of the Proms in style with our Proms Weekend between 9-12, Your little ones will love our Toddler Break between 26-30 and go back in time with our 70s Weekend from 30 September which includes star guests in the form of 1970’s group Showaddywaddy. Agatha Christie's Birthday Celebrations, Torre Abbey - 15 September
A programme of celebrations to mark the birthday of Agatha Christie, the Queen of Crime who was born in Torquay. Its 100 years since she wrote her first published novel, the novel that introduced Hercule Poirot to the world. Tickets are available online.
Big Beach Clean, Torquay - 17 September
Living Coasts are hosting their annual big beach clean from 1pm-3pm. This free event gives you the chance to help preserve the local environment and protect our local marine creatures by ensuring our beaches are litter free. You’ll get yourself a hot chocolate or an ice cream for all of your hard work and there’s also fun activities for kids and rockpool rambles too.
The Colour Rush, Paignton - 17 September
Join in with Rowcroft Hospice’s popular annual Colour Rush where you walk or run your way around a 5K route while being showered in brightly coloured powder paint. The messy madness kicks off on Paignton Green from 10.30am and is followed by a mass paint throw. The event will also include food and drink stalls as well as music from The Breeze. Tickets are £25 and you will be asked to raise as much sponsorship as possible so why not get involved.
World Rhino Day, Paignton - 22 September
Join Paignton Zoo and help celebrate these marvellous yet critically endangered creatures. You’ll meet Reggie the Rhino and pick up an activity booklet when you arrive to learn more about the rhinos of the world. Plus, don’t miss the special rhino talk at 11.15am.
