Top Tips

  • Wear comfy shoes to make sure that you are ready to do some exploring
  • Walk slowly and quietly – nature is shy! The slower and quieter you walk, the more birds, bugs, and butterflies you’re likely to spot.
  • Look up, Down, and all around – There’s magic in every direction – tiny fairy doors at the base of trees, birds singing in the tree branches, and butterflies floating around in the wild patch.
  • Bring a camera – Capture your favourite finds, and share them with us.

Tree Spotting Challenge

Take part in our Tree Spotting Challenge and tick off the trees you find along the way. Each green square on the map represents one of the following:

  1. Purple Leaf Plum – Gorgeous deep purple leaves in spring and summer, birds and insects love it’s small, sweet fruits which are often mistaken for cherries.
  2. Crab Apple – Produces small, tart fruits loved by wildlife but are too tart for most humans.
  3. Holly – Look out for spiky leaves and red berries in winter. Did you know that only female trees produce berries – but need a male tree nearby!
  4. Sycamore – Large leaves and distinctive helicopter seeds in autumn. It’s helicopter seeds spin like rotors when falling.
  5. Crimson Norway Maple – Deep red leaves all summer
  6. Cherry Blossom – Pink and white blossoms bloom in spring and the flowers attract bees and butterflies for pollination.
  7. Hornbeam – It’s tough wood was once used to make tools and wheels and the name “hornbeam” means “hard tree”
  8. Ash – Ash seeds are called “keys” because they hang in clusters and twirl when they fall. But are sadly under threat from a disease called ash dieback.
  9. Bottle Brush – Named for its bright red, bristly flowers that look like bottle cleaning brushes!

Native Bird Species

Bird Nesting Box. Nature Walk

At Beverley Holidays, you’ll spot many birds along the Nature Walk, especially near bird boxes. Look out for robins with red tummies and bold attitudes, blackbirds in sleek black suits hunting worms, and blue tits – tiny acrobats with blue caps and yellow bellies, flitting through the trees.

How many birds can you find?

Not sure which birds you’ve spotted? The RSPB have a handy guide to help you.

Sammy The Seal

Did you know that Brixham Harbour is home to both grey seals and common seals and we’ve even included one in our new mural here at Beverley Holidays! Especially created for us by local artist Zoe Curley, our new Holiday Home Sales Showground looks splash-tastic!

Seals like Sammy are often seen relaxing on rocks, diving for fish, or bobbing along the Breakwater. If you’re heading into Brixham during your stay, keep your eyes peeled you might just spot the real-life version of our mural star! Local charity The Seal Project have more information on Brixham’s seals.

Step into a vibrant world of purple blooms at the Purple Pollinator Patch. This specially designed garden is a feast for the eyes and a vital haven for bees, butterflies, and other pollinating insects. Whilst pollinators are attracted to numerous colours of flowers, the colours purple, violet and blue have been scientifically proven to attract bees and butterflies.

A favourite among families, Bugingham Palace, is our creatively designed insect hotel. This fascinating structure provides a safe habitat for various insects, offering a unique opportunity to learn about these small yet crucial members of our environment. Kids and adults alike will enjoy discovering the different “rooms” and the insect guests that reside there. Learn how to make you very own Bug Hotel with help from the RSPB.

Our Commitments

As part of our ongoing commitment to the environment, Beverley Holidays is proud to support the David Bellamy “Blooming Marvellous” Pledge for Nature an award that recognises holiday parks going the extra mile to protect and enhance the natural world. Our Nature Walk is a key part of this pledge, helping us create a haven for wildlife, support pollinators like bees and butterflies, and celebrate the beauty of native trees and plants. By exploring the trail, you’re not just enjoying the outdoors you’re walking through a living example of our pledge in action.
