Introducing “Local Walks”: Your New Way to Explore the English Riviera with Beverley Holidays

Exploring the English Riviera just became even easier. At Beverley Holidays, we’re excited to announce the launch of Local Walks, a brand-new feature in our official app designed to help you make the most of your holiday in Paignton and the surrounding South Devon coastline.

Available now in the Explore section of the Beverley Holidays App, this new feature offers a curated selection of on-park and local walking routes—each complete with detailed instructions, photos, accessibility notes, elevation information, and even What3Words start and end points for ultra-precise navigation.

Whether you’re searching for easy walks from Beverley Holidays, dog-friendly routes, beautiful coastal scenery, or fun family adventures, our Local Walks feature brings it all together in one simple, intuitive tool.

What Is the Local Walks Feature?

The Local Walks section was launched at the end of November in response to a simple question many guests ask:
“Where can we walk around here?”

We’ve answered it by gathering a collection of hand-picked walks perfect for discovering the English Riviera and local area on foot.

Each walk includes:

  • Walk difficulty rating (easy, moderate, etc.)

  • Total distance

  • Estimated time to complete

  • Elevation and terrain information

  • Accessibility notes

  • Dog-friendliness rating

  • Parking information, where applicable

  • Step-by-step route directions

  • Photos of key landmarks

  • Links to relevant maps and nearby facilities

  • What3Words start and end points

Some trails begin right outside Beverley Holidays Reception, while others are a short drive from the park—making them ideal for guests looking to explore more of Paignton, Torquay and Brixham.

Below are the first four walking routes now available in the app.

1. The Beverley Nature Walk

Easy · On-Park · Family-Friendly · Dog-Friendly

Looking for a gentle stroll without leaving the holiday park? The Beverley Nature Walk is a brilliant introduction to the Local Walks feature. This easy on-park loop includes 10 interactive stops, inviting you to discover wildlife, identify tree species, and tick off each location as you go.

Perfect for:

  • Families with young explorers

  • Guests seeking an accessible, low-effort activity

  • Anyone wanting to enjoy the natural environment of the park

  • Dog walkers

Ideal as a warm-up walk or a relaxing way to enjoy the scenery, the Nature Walk showcases the beautiful green spaces surrounding our holiday homes.

2. Goodrington Sands Walk

Easy · From Beverley Holidays · Coastal Route

One of the most popular requests from guests is:
“How do we walk to Goodrington Sands?”

The Local Walks feature now gives you clear, step-by-step directions to Goodrington Sands, our closest beach and one of the most loved shores on the English Riviera. Famous for its soft sand, colourful beach huts and safe swimming waters, it’s a perfect destination for couples, families, and dog owners (seasonal zones apply).

Walk Highlights:

  • Straightforward, downhill all the way!

  • Easy navigation from the park

  • Facilities available – cafe, toilets etc.
  • Dog-friendly details

  • Accessibility notes for pushchairs and wheelchairs

Whether you’re heading down with a bucket and spade or strolling to watch the sunrise, this walk makes the journey simple and enjoyable.

3. The Agatha Christie Mile

Moderate · Short Drive · Cultural & Historic

The English Riviera is famously the birthplace of legendary crime novelist Agatha Christie. Now you can follow in her footsteps with the Agatha Christie Mile, a scenic walk along Torquay’s beautiful seafront marked by seven commemorative plaques.

Our new Local Walks feature provides directions, nearby facilities, and helpful info so you can explore the trail at your own pace.

Walk Highlights:

  • The Grand Hotel (where Christie honeymooned)

  • Princess Pier (a favourite roller-skating spot)

  • The Pavilion, Princess Gardens, and Torquay Harbour

  • Nearby access to Torquay Museum’s Agatha Christie Gallery

Make a Day of It

Guests can also extend their adventure by visiting Greenway, Christie’s former holiday home on the River Dart, now beautifully maintained by the National Trust. The app includes optional links to help you plan your visit.

4. Brixham Mural Trail

Easy–Moderate · Short Drive · Creative & Colourful

Brixham isn’t just a charming fishing town—it’s also home to an ever-growing collection of vibrant murals. Since the first one was painted in 2018, the project has expanded to include over 70 murals, with around 15 full-size pieces celebrating the town’s maritime heritage, pirate legends, wartime stories and creative community.

This trail is the most central of the Brixham mural routes and is especially popular with families, photographers and art lovers.

What You’ll See:

  • Murals depicting Brixham’s fishing industry

  • Pirate-themed artwork

  • World War II commemorative pieces

  • Colourful community-created designs

The route includes plenty of opportunities for photos—don’t forget to tag us if you share your finds!
