From family festivals on the seaside setting of Paignton Green to thrilling royal regattas with plenty of action on the water, the events calendar really comes alive during the Summer Holidays. There’s no better time to pack your bags and soak up the sunshine on the award-winning English Riviera.

Here are our top events not to be missed for those holidaying with us this summer…

Paignton Festival

22-30 July

Paignton Festival

This fantastic event in Torbay’s summertime calendar, formerly known as Torbay Carnival, has roots going back more than 100 years.

It began life as a one-night-only procession snaking through the streets of Paignton ending on the Green, but such has been its success that the event today takes place over 9 fun-packed days. The little ones will love festival favourites including face painting, bouncy castles and live shows on the family stage, while there’s plenty to keep parents happy including food and drink stalls aplenty, live music and much more.

Riviera Classic Car Show

23 July

Forming part of Paignton Festival, this fabulous event is great fun in its own right, organised by Torbay Old Wheels Club since 1994 and raising much-needed funds for a number of local charities.

Head along to see hundreds of vehicles lined up along Paignton Seafront, from traditional types to those of a quirky variety. Spectators are charged a voluntary entry fee of £2.50 which is a steal considering the eclectic mix of cars on offer, and not forgetting the fact that it all goes to a great local cause.

Torbay Steam Fair

4-6 August

A hop, skip and a jump from Beverley Holidays, this family-orientated fair on the way to Brixham promises something for all ages to enjoy.

The car fans in your family can admire the huge gathering of military vehicles, tractors and motorbikes on display, while big kids and little ones alike have plenty to keep them busy too. From market stalls to children’s entertainment, why not give the fairground rides a go before heading to the bar for a local refreshment?

Torbay Royal Regatta

18 -21 Aug

You don’t have to be a sailor to enjoy this ocean-loving event in Torbay’s Summer calendar, nor do you even have to get wet!

Catch an impressive array of sports boats as they battle it out on the waters around Torbay in one of the oldest events of its kind in the country. The first yachting regatta in the UK to be granted royal patronage, it’s a real highlight for those who love admiring the blue waters along our South West shores, so pull up a deckchair and settle back from some awesome sailing action.

Torbay Pride

2 September

After an 11-year absence, this fun, free family event returns in all its rainbow-coloured glory to Torre Abbey Meadows in Torquay.

Catch a colourful pride parade through the streets of Torbay, followed by live entertainment on the events’ main stage. Hosted by Lola Versace, highlights include an Adele and Beyonce tribute act, to name just a few. Then head to the market village to stock up on local crafts to take home, before getting your fill of locally-made food, plus plenty of laughs at the funfair.

Pedal Boats

No one does Summer like our family-run holiday parks. When the weather hots up so does the holiday action with our Summer Pool Parties the perfect way to celebrate the season of sunshine and no school. Our daytime activity programme also gets in full swing with a chance to give water zorbing a whirl, or brave our giant inflatable course.

The action continues well into the night as our Starlight stage welcomes some brilliant Summertime shows, including 3-piece rock band The Fourty Fours (26 Aug), and not forgetting our 65th-anniversary pantomime show Cinderella.
