Which is better Paignton or Torquay?

As with many neighbouring towns there can be a bit of friendly local rivalry. This is no different on the English Riviera with people wanting to know which town is better Paignton or Torquay? Locals and visitors alike want to have the bragging rights for all manner of things.

In our opinion both towns have a lot of great things going for them:

If spending time on the beach and enjoying some quality family time playing near the sea then Paignton is the better place to be. With it’s miles of sandy beaches and lots of open green spaces Paignton is a perfect location for families to visit.

If you are looking for a more vibrant night life, a greater variety of shops and a larger town centre then Torquay is ideal.

The great thing is that both towns are with in easy reach of each other. There is a regular bus service linking the towns. So if you want a change of scenery it is easy to hop down the coast to the other one!
